Bohemian Like You

The other day, as per usual, I went shopping for one thing, and ended up buying another completely unrelated thing that I just don't need and have several similar versions already. But as soon as I saw this embroidered 70s cheesecloth number, I knew it would be coming home with me.  Perfect for the warm, sunny evenings we've been having of late.

Summer Accessories Edit

In the thick of summer I tend to live in the same old, same old. Namely grey marl t-shirts by LNA, vintage denim cut-offs and throw-on jersey dresses. So the only way to make it all feel kind of fresh is the odd new accessory thus I decided to pull together my current wish-list of extras and add-ons in case you too are in need of an update or two.

Bracelet with shell / Aurelie Biderman @ Matches (Sale)
Bracelet with tassel / Isabel Marant @ Matches (Sale)
Necklace / Jessica Zeuner

Insta-weekend

I just got back from a dreamy weekend at my parent's house in the country where, for once, we were treated to better weather than those down south and took full advantage by reading in the sun all day, walking the dogs and raiding the fridge every few hours.

The 20+ degree weather meant two things I've been waiting to wear finally had an outing this weekend, namely my black Birkenstocks and the vintage denim dungarees I picked up in Brighton a few weeks ago after a long, fruitless search for 'the' pair. Despite a few breaking-in blisters from said Birkenstocks, I am totally hooked on these ugly love-hate sandals and plan of shuffling around in them all summer long.

Escaping to the country this weekend for some much-needed downtime with my dogs, long lie-ins and, fingers crossed, some time out in the sun.

You can follow me on Instragram @lucywilliams02 (it's a common name and I was late in the game!) for updates over the weekend.

Happy Friday everyone.

Time to Run

Rooting for summer as ever. Luckily, England finally seems to be playing ball.

You might have noticed that my posts are often named after current favourite song titles (thank you Lord Huron for this one). Subscribe to the Fashion Me Now spotify playlists for more.

And the Award Goes To....

Nicole Richie it seems, who stole the show at the CFDA awards last night in backless Marc Jacobs.

Love how she keeps everything else really simple and just let's that smoking dress speak for itself.

A Marant of my Own

Favourite new jeans by Isabel Marant Etoile that have already become one of those 'what would I do without' pieces.

Wearing with the standard LNA t-shirt, Whistles jacket and Office boots.

So It Goes

Those of you who follow me of Twitter and/or Instagram will probably have already gathered that my boyfriend's recently launched a new biannual magazine called So It Goes, and as it hits newstands today (hurray!), I thought it was about time I shared some of its beautiful editorials with you. Especially after Fashion Gone Rogue beat me to it to this morning (cue much over-excitement at my desk).

Two of my favourite young actresses feature in the debut issue; Felicity Jones, who completely stole the show in the wonderful and partly ad-lib Like Crazy, and Analeigh Tipton, who won me over with her hilarious turn in Crazy Stupid Love, so I was massively excited to see the results of each shoot.  Both were photographed in and around Silverlake and Echo Park in L.A and the shots really encapsulate why I fell for the place last summer. All that soft, hazy light and a sense of easy, youthful optimism in the air.  I’m a big fan of the talented photographer Elliot Lee Hazel who worked his ethereal magic on Felicity. Doesn’t she look insanely beautiful?!  Likewise Analeigh, in her Cult Gaia flower garland against the fading Californian light, is making me want to runaway to those palm-tree lined skies all over again.

On top of envy-inducing actresses, the magazine includes features on art, photography, travel and new music, as well an exclusive memoir by James Franco and essays on the likes of contemporary espionage and confessions of a Hollywood assistant.

So it Goes is on UK newsstands now and will be available globally in the coming weeks. You can also order online here

A Day in Brighton

Fierce concentration on Time Crisis III

Loved these string bags for sale at Bill's on North Street.

Morroccan treasure trove in the North Laines

With the bank holiday bringing an extra day to play with, we decided to hop on the train to the coast for the day. I've been living in London for four years now and yet I've never ventured down to Brighton before so I figured it was about time I checked it out. Plus, we were craving some salty sea air, fish and chips and a fresh crop of vintage shops, all of which we found in abundance.

We started with some shopping in the North Laines (although we later realised we'd missed an entire street brimming with great vintage so a repeat trip will have to be planned) before grabbing a late brunch at Bill's. Kensington Gardens, one of the busiest streets in the laines, housed Snooper's Paradise, where both Jamie and I uncovered some vintage finds before indulging in some cheesy black and white photo booth snaps. There was also an amazing Morroccan homeware shop which I've bookmarked for textiles and ceramics when I'm living somewhere suitably deserving and a certain mermaid mural you can probably tell we became slightly infatuated with for 5 minutes!

We thought the bright lights of Brighton pier had to be experienced at least once, so we spent a few hours shovelling coins into arcade games, eating candy floss and wandering the boards of the bustling fairground. While it was as fun as it was trashy, it was a welcome relief to escape the crowds for the quiet of the Royal Pavillion at the end of the day. With its turrets silhouetted against the blue sky like those of an ancient Ottoman palace, we felt like we'd been transported to Istanbul - a strange yet beautiful end to the day.

After buying giant foot-long deli baguettes stuffed with avocado and mozzarella, we hopped on the train back to London in time for a relaxed, lazy night in with the remote control and Maltesers on hand.
